How to make a wedding video

by Gabriel Soltren

This article is about making a great wedding video. After reading this article anyone with some effort will be able to shoot an excellent wedding video. One has to keep in mind that a wedding only happens once. There is no second chance to shoot the bride walking down the aisle. Once the vows are made it is too late to re-shoot. Below are several ways to make sure the video comes out great.

Shaky videos can be torture to watch. The way to correct this is to use a tripod, monopod, steady cam, or by simply holding the camera close to the body as still as possible.

First make sure the video does not shake too much. Shaky videos can be torture to watch. The way to correct this is to use a tripod, monopod, steady cam, or by simply holding the camera close to the body as still as possible. A tripod in a good location will usually do the job. A monopod held by the camera operator will provide a steady shot with the flexibility to move the camera quickly. Most cameras have a steady cam setting that can reduce shakiness. Make sure the steady cam setting is turned on. Finally, holding the camera close to the body provides stability. Any combination of these options will provide steady shots.

Second, make sure the camera operator does not zoom in and out too much. Zooming in and out can be annoying to watch. Most videographers will find a good shot and stay with it.

The last suggestion is to have a back-up video camera. As mentioned above, shooting a wedding is a once in a lifetime event. A back-up camera is essential to make sure you do not miss that great shot. You never know what is going to happen in a wedding. Even a well meaning person can forget to turn the camera on. If that happens, having a second video camera can be a lifesaver. One easy option is to set the back-up camera on a tripod and let it run by itself.

The best wedding videos have the above basic characteristics. Of course hiring a good wedding videographer is the best way to go. It will ensure the video is edited with style. Professionals are also more likely to get artistic shots. However, by following the simple guidelines above anyone can make a great wedding video that future generations will enjoy.

Five complaints about wedding videographers

Amazing wedding video

Contact us at: info@soltren.net | (407) 504-1627

Not getting a professional wedding videographer is a regret that many married couples share after their wedding. This article covers five complaints about wedding videographers. If they could go back and do it over again many couples would be more careful in selecting their wedding videographer. By taking  a few precautionary steps couples can prevent getting the wrong videographer and enjoy their wedding video for years to come.

The first complaint about wedding videographers is that they took too long to deliver the wedding video after the wedding. The most time consuming part of making a wedding video is the post production editing.  “The videographer promised that we would get our wedding video in 3 months and it’s been 6 months and still nothing,” said the bride.

The second complaint about wedding videographers is that they did not get along with the wedding photographer during the wedding. For example, the videographer and the photographer both wanted to get the same angle of the bride walking down the aisle and the videographer got in front of the wedding photographer.

The third complaint about wedding videographers is that their on-camera lights were too bright.

The fourth complaint about wedding videographers is that the sound quality of the wedding video was poor.

The fifth complaint about wedding videographers is that they did not show up at the wedding. “We paid a deposit in advance and the videographer did not show up,” said the bride.

Better business guidelines suggest that couples get the wedding video service terms in advance including the time of delivery, refunds, deposits, and finally the couple should consider paying by credit card so if the service is unacceptable the charges can be disputed. The couple should also ask to see sample wedding videos to review the style of the wedding video as well as the visual quality and sound quality of the wedding video service.

Tony and Elizabeth (not their real names) got married several years ago and now regret not having made a wedding video. Tony says that if he could do it again, he would have hired a professional wedding videographer. “We have good photographs, but it would have been nice to have a professional wedding video,” said Tony.

As a videographer that films wedding videos, I would say that not everyone needs a wedding video. The question of whether to make a wedding video often depends on what is important to the bride and the groom. For one thing, a professional wedding video may not fit every budget. If the bride and groom feel that they will put their wedding video away and never watch it after the wedding, then they should probably use their money on things they will enjoy. For example, the extra money could pay for a better venue, better honeymoon plans, flowers, photographs, reception, limousine, cake, live band, ice sculptures, and things they will really appreciate.
