What is the best media to tell your story?

What is the best media to tell your story?

Are people’s attention spans getting shorter? Are shorter messages more effective? Many people would agree with the concept. In the 1970s, Herbert Simon, the American political scientist known for bounded rationality and satisficing, suggested that a “wealth of information creates a poverty of attention.”

Now, everyone does not believe that attention spans are shrinking. Actor and founder of Trigger Street Productions Kevin Spacey makes a good argument that attention spans are actually longer when the story is good. In the video posted below, he speaks about the creative process and how programs are made for new media. Spacey explained how new technology changed the way we get our stories. The camera does not know the difference between a film, a TV show, or a Web show. To the camera lens, and to the audience, it’s just a story. The best media to tell your story is probably not as important as the quality of the story.

How to make a wedding video

by Gabriel Soltren

This article is about making a great wedding video. After reading this article anyone with some effort will be able to shoot an excellent wedding video. One has to keep in mind that a wedding only happens once. There is no second chance to shoot the bride walking down the aisle. Once the vows are made it is too late to re-shoot. Below are several ways to make sure the video comes out great.

Shaky videos can be torture to watch. The way to correct this is to use a tripod, monopod, steady cam, or by simply holding the camera close to the body as still as possible.

First make sure the video does not shake too much. Shaky videos can be torture to watch. The way to correct this is to use a tripod, monopod, steady cam, or by simply holding the camera close to the body as still as possible. A tripod in a good location will usually do the job. A monopod held by the camera operator will provide a steady shot with the flexibility to move the camera quickly. Most cameras have a steady cam setting that can reduce shakiness. Make sure the steady cam setting is turned on. Finally, holding the camera close to the body provides stability. Any combination of these options will provide steady shots.

Second, make sure the camera operator does not zoom in and out too much. Zooming in and out can be annoying to watch. Most videographers will find a good shot and stay with it.

The last suggestion is to have a back-up video camera. As mentioned above, shooting a wedding is a once in a lifetime event. A back-up camera is essential to make sure you do not miss that great shot. You never know what is going to happen in a wedding. Even a well meaning person can forget to turn the camera on. If that happens, having a second video camera can be a lifesaver. One easy option is to set the back-up camera on a tripod and let it run by itself.

The best wedding videos have the above basic characteristics. Of course hiring a good wedding videographer is the best way to go. It will ensure the video is edited with style. Professionals are also more likely to get artistic shots. However, by following the simple guidelines above anyone can make a great wedding video that future generations will enjoy.
